Annual Membership Meeting

The Annual Membership Meeting is Tuesday January 17, 2012. The meeting is held at the OSU-N Warner Library Norm Sleight Room (2nd Floor Conference Room) at 6:30 PM. Board elections will occur at this meeting. To be eligible to vote, your membership must be current and/or purchased before 1/10/13.

Meet the Candidates

Matt Dole works for Communications Counsel Inc. in Columbus, OH which is a communications consulting firm. He has also performed communications duties, including event management and media relations with local chapters of The American Red Cross and Easter Seals of Central and Southeast Ohio. Matt formerly worked as News Director for WYLI sports talk radio, Marietta Ohio, and was former board president for Washington Co. Humane Society. Mr. Dole is an alumnus of Marietta College where he earned a degree in history.

Natasha McKee is an Administrative Officer with Park National Bank in Newark. She has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She was previously on the board for the Newark Kiwanis and the Park Activities Club. She resides in the Licking Valley area with her children and rescue dog. Natasha hopes to share her skill set in a way that makes a difference in the lives of animals.

Christopher Shook is an attorney with the law offices of Morrow, Gordon & Byrd, Ltd in Newark. Chris graduated from Ohio state and completed his law degree at the University of Akron. Chris resides in Reynoldsburg with his wife. His dog, Gus was the first pet to cross the finish line at Pet-a-palooza this year. Chris states "As a long-time pet owner, I will be committed to the mission of the Licking County Humane Society. I am capable of coming up with new and different ideas that could help LCHS achieve its goals."

Lynn Swingle is an accountant with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Lynn is a certified public accountant and has a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Lynn is an avid dog lover and lives in Granville with her husband and dogs (one being a foster dog.) Lynn has been on the board since early 2011 and has been instrumental in development of the 2012 budget. She is also developing and refining our financial policies.

Phil Walpole retired from Nationwide Children’s Hospital where he was the Finance Manager of Pediatric Academic Associates. He is currently working on special projects as a consultant. Phil has 40+ years of experience in accounting and specialized knowledge regarding accounting in non-profit organizations. Phil has expressed interest in filling the soon-to-be-open treasurers position begin vacated by exiting board member Deborah McDonald. Phil is a dog lover and resides with his wife in Granville.

Outgoing Board Members

Many thanks to outgoing board member, Amy Barnes! Amy has contributed so much to the Humane Society over the past 4 years including development/maintenance of our website. Amy also helped with fundraising and designed the quarterly newsletter. Amy is a tireless advocate for homeless pets and we truly appreciate all of her hard work!

Outgoing board member, Deborah McDonald is so appreciated for her work on the board over the past 4 years. As the treasurer, she has brought a high level of professionalism to our accounting and financial tracking/reporting. Deborah also stepped up to the plate late last year to act as interim-shelter manager. Debo-rah is completing her board posi-tion in January and has agreed to accept a permanent position with the Humane Society as the shelter manager. Thanks to Deborah for her commitment and dedication to LCHS!
