The perfect starting point for puppies up to 7 months of age. Your puppy will learn “the Big Five”: Sit, Down, Stay, Come and Walk on a Leash, as well as nice household manners. Information to help with potty training, nutrition and grooming will also be covered.
The great place to start for the adolescent or more mature dog that is new to your home or has not had previous training classes. Your dog will learn “the Big Five” as well as many other skills. We will also go over any problem behaviors you may be having with your dog.
Bully Breed Class 1 and Bully Breed Class 2
The ideal place to start for the bully breed dog that has not had any formal training or needs reintroduced to basic skills. “The Big Five” and many other skills will be introduced as well as behavior problem issues will be addressed. Bully Breed 2 is for the dog that has had some training and is ready for preparing to take the Canine Good Citizen. Bully Breeds may require a different approach than with other breeds. The idea of these classes is to address the new ruling in Newark City that bully breeds may be exempt from the past restrictions of insurance, muzzling, and other restrictions if the dog has been trained and has passed the Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) promoted by the American Kennel Club. There is no absolute guarantee your dog will pass the CGC, but with effort, practice and training from the pet parent, Gayle will guide you through the training process to obtain the CGC. The test will be offered at the Licking County Humane Societies facility.
This is the next level of class after Puppy or Beginner Classes. We will expand on the skills we learned in previous class and capture lots of new skills. Dogs will learn to settle, heel, and perform skills despite distractions, tricks for fun will also be included.
Fun and Games
This class refines and builds our dogs skills base. We introduce agility, rally and other fun dog sports. Prerequisite: Intermediate.
Preparation for the Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International Tests. Individual skill concerns will be addressed. This class is not Bully Breed 2, but rather for those that have completed puppy or beginner, intermediate and now would like to pursue the next level.
