Save-A-Life Campaign ~ In Honor of Zenna Sayre
The Save-A-Life Campaign ~ In Honor of Zenna Sayre
The Save-A-Life Campaign is an annual drive to help cover medical supplies and veterinary costs for our shelter animals.
The homeless and mistreated animals in Licking County rely on us to meet their most basic needs as well as any medical needs that arise. Through the Save-A-Life Campaign, LCHS will be able to serve these vulnerable cats and dogs, providing for their routine veterinary care, their specialized emergency needs and their general health and well-being.
With an annual goal of $110,000, we can ensure that each and every animal in the shelter receives the medical care it so desperately needs and deserves.
This fund will cover
- Emergency surgeries: eye-removal, amputation, repairing broken limbs, and many more.
- Heartworm testing/treatment
- Feline leukemia testing
- Microchipping all animals

Veterinary & Medical Expenses 2016 – 2018
Zenna Sayre (1922 – 2015) was a long time friend of the shelter. She loved all animals, especially Standard Poodles and her cats. Shortly before her passing, she established the Zenna Sayre Medical Fund to help with the medical expenses for pets at the shelter. Zenna cared deeply about animals and her legacy and impact on the Licking County Humane Society will be forever remembered. In her honor, LCHS holds the “Save a Life” campaign. This campaign allows LCHS to provide life-saving medical care and other medical services such as: spay/neuter, vaccines, emergency surgeries, testing and microchipping for the shelter animals.
